Live 10 or 2K 10?

User Rating: 8.5 | NBA Live 10 PS3
First of all let me say unlike some fan boys who post idiotic reviews (giving this game a 1) I have actually spent time playing both Live and 2K. 2K hands down this year has better graphics, animations and mo cap but that is where it ends. 2K lags greatly especially when the ball is in the post and froze several times on me when loading. The menu layout is frustrating (keep in mind that this is their best attempt in the last two years) and there is a glitch that doesn't allow you to save your coaching, user and game play settings. This is extremely frustrating when you have to reset your personal settings from the default settings every time you play a game. Also 2K's servers are a huge issue and I was unable to even play a decent game online.
While the motion capture and animations in 2K are better than Live, Live's controls and game play are a lot smoother. Live allows you to install the game which helps it to run without a hitch. There are some pop ins and outs in the player uniforms but nothing really that drastic that affects the game play. Live's defense is harder you can't just drive in anymore. If you dribble too much near the key the AI will steal the ball. 2K's AI is more offensive minded and will shoot your lights out from downtown. 2K has a lot of features to keep you busy. I especially liked the feature that allows you to look at individual replays for each player after each game. The freestyle in Live is a lot more responsive than the iso-motion in 2K but the motion capture in 2k smooths that out. You do have the option of putting the iso-motion on the right joystick just like Live I should add.
2k will take you longer to master where as Live went back to basics with their control scheme. One would think that this would "dumb" down the game play but it actually enhances it greatly;a steeper learning curve doesn't necessarily mean a better game. Overall Live has put together a very decent game enough to satisfy any basketball enthusiast and is very much a basketball sim as 2K minus all the glitches.
