This game is basketball how it always should be played on video games.
When NBA Jam was in the arcades it managed to perfect this style of unrealism on the court in a game that was full of addicting gameplay. Heck, how could somebody not get addicted to a super sized slamdunk from 15 feet out? Or catching on an unstoppable shooting spree accentuated with flames? This was far from real, but undeniably fun and the superhuman capabilities of the player was always equally matched with the computer's highly competitive difficulty. With its mark made on the genre, this was a game that didn't need to evolve for years, and stood above several games of the genre that tried to compare in the years ahead.
Thankfully, NBA Jam returned to its undeniably fun routes in its Wii upgrade that adds a more modern look and equally fun game modes. For classic Jam lovers the gameplay will instantly take you back to the wildly fun and over the top capabilities while players new to the title will surely become addicted playing by themselves or with friends. NBA Jam, simply put, is how Basketball should have always been played in the arcade or at home and after picking up the controller for one game, is certainly a game deserving a score much higher than a 7.0.
