This game is for all the true ballers out there that not only want to play a real basketball game off court but on court as well. This is not your NBA streetz or your NBA live. This is what it says it is, NBA. You want to see sweat on your players and experience their energy diminish from running up and down the court, this is the game. This game doesnt ask you to really jump over the hoop or run fast breaks all day. You gotta learn to run plays, be smart, and most of all, be alert. A new feature that will either make or break your interest in this game is the analog shot. As a substitute for the usual shooting button you can actually use the analog stick which in a way acts as a custom shot stick or button. It helps a lot in situations where a drive to the basket could cause a charge or be easily blocked. The turbo button acts more as a modifier in a sense that now its used to show much more aggressive moves that can add some authority to your game. Cross over tricks are associated with this button also in combination with your left analog stick where the turbo is like a clutch and the stick shifts the gears. You'll figure it out. I recommend this to the baller that really likes to rely on wise decision making in basketball rather than the wild play of 2k6's competitors. Don't hesitate on this one because if you sit with it for awhile, trust me the addiction will suck you in.
The Break Down.
Gamplay: Awesome and on point. It doesn’t get any more real than this. Everything from how the players react to sudden moves of the control stick to button placement is solid. It just takes time however to get used to the game.
Graphics: If you just disregard the fact that all the animations are CGI you seriously would feel like this game looked like the real thing. Unlike “Live” and its shrinkage of players at certain angles, this game makes players out to look exactly as they are in real life.
Sound: It seems that commentators of Live are now seeing the light and have jumped over to this game. Kenny the Jet Smith is here "That move reminded me of, "The Ice Man, George Gervin.. . . ." Just a sample of what to expect. Commentators don't get as personal with star players as they used to but nevertheless, they are on point with what occurs during the game. The crowd definitely provides their point of view depending on how their team is doing. The music which may I add is so much better than Live's in that 2k6 is much more underground than mainstream. They brought Common, Little Brother, Aesop Rock, Mad Skillz, Jean Grae, Blackalicious etc just Beautiful Music. Sound is GREAT
Value: It all comes down to whose side you are on. You either run with the little arcade games like NBA Live or play with big boys on 2K6. If you accept the challenge, a rent is not even necessary. Pay up.
