The best wrestling game this generation.

The character models are absolutley breathtaking, all superstars are easily recognizable and the attention to detail borderlines on creepy. Arena's are also detailed with the same excrutiating detail, this goes for the backstage areas as well.
If you were somewhat disappointed with the lackluster(or expensive) offerings Smackdown vs Raw had, you should be very happy with this game. For the Create-A-Belt mode, it is much cheaper to create better belts than last year. There is a Fullfill your Fantasy match, taking the Bra & Panties one step further, the Bar Room Brawl(again a step above the Parking Lot Brawl), and the Buried Alive match. Create-A-Entrance has been put in for those of you tired of the same old boring(and out of place) entrances. Of course quite the biggest new feature is the GM mode, where you take control of a show and run it for the season. You(and possibly a second person) are able to duke it out in the ratings war and see who comes out on top. This is primarily a text heavy mode so don't expect much flash and excitment.
IMPROVING ON THE OLD
Season mode has been given a much needed enhancement. Voice overs are much better than last year, the cutscenes are much more authentic, and the overall feeling makes you feel like your part of the show. Instead of randomly generated stories with random characters your given a more structured season mode, while it has better presentation it doesn't have as much room for "doing your own thing". Minor gameplay mechanics have been improved upon, there is a Power Irish Whip which hurls as opponent with more power, this can be done by simply holding Triangle+Circle and the direction you want to send them. Various meters and sliders have been added to the matches(such as Cage). The Create-A-Wrester feature has been reworked, superstars actually look realistic and clothing is no longer painted on, clothes actually exist on the character. The locker room you can access anything at is yours to customize, use Shopzone to buy items which you can use to populate the locker room. You can have an HBK bear, or Kane's mask sitting on your desk. Change the TV system or color of the furniture, its all up to you.
Most of the sound clips in Smackdown vs Raw 2006 are pretty good, the soundtrack has a wide variety of rap, rock, and metal. Superstar voices are much better and more convincing than last year. The only thing that may irritate some would be the commentating, I heard the same phrase in my first 2 matches twice. Most superstars have there real entrance musics and themes.
This game offers a slew of unlockables, ranging from various legends(which require different methods of unlocking) to a couple extra clothing items for certain characters, to the customizable locker room details. Most of this can be bought through the Shopzone interface.
Overall WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2006 is a must own for any wrestling fan. If you were somewhat disappointed with Smackdown vs Raw, this game is certainly going to make up for it.
