Sports game have been known for being repetative. Other games in this genre have also recieved little competition. Giving them no real innovation and giving them only minor changes each year. NBA 2k has not suffered from this, they have improved this years game compared to earlier editions. There is so much to do for anyone in this game. The game is also very accesible for everyone. You can make the game easier with options, making it possible for anyone to really enjoy this game. It's also a fairly simple game to get into, you can pick it up and just play quick matches. You can go in to Association mode and try to build your own team. You can try becoming the best player in the world in myPlayer mode, you can also try getting the best players by buying packs of cards and collecting the players and jerseys. You can also go online play vs with your player, association or just play quick matches there aswell. You can create your crew and invite friends to play with you. There is a lot to explore and variation.
The core game mechanics are the best so far in the the series with realistic in-air contacts and animations. The game doesn't feel floaty or glitchy at any point during gameplay. The players move with realistic movement. The shooting mechanics are solid and feel easy to access and not hard to use. It's also not hard to shoot either, if you take bad shots and miss it is your fault and not the players fault. You don't feel as if the players are at fault if you manage to screw up an attack or leave players open to score against you. The AI is also very intelligent, trying to get open shots and mixing up the attack and defense to keep you from winning and giving you a challenge all the way. The players also have different abilities in attack and defense making it possible to change your approach to the game with the depth of your roster.
The graphics look really good and get the mosr out of the ps3 before the end of it's lifecycle. The players look amazing and catch their emotions with lips and face expressions better than ever. The game runs smoothly and rarely has any graphical gltiches worthy of mentioning that disturbs the gaming experience. The framarate is very smooth through the game and never studders when i played the game.
The Commentators in this game are solid, giving information about the trainers, players, teams both present and past. You get halftime reports, information about other games and a solid commentator team with a lot of variation in each match. The only downside is if you have played the game a lot it might get somwhat repetative, but if you don't really mind that there is no bad thing to say about the audio. The atmosphere on the court on the court is very well translated and if the game is close the crowd reacts to every play. You also get feel the dissapointment in the crowd if you or the opposite team is getting a threashing at home.
The depth of this game is stunning. Giving you loads to do in offline and online play. You can choose to play how you want and what you want with the depth and variety that few sports games have or can match. There is something for anyone that is slightly interested in this basketball or in this game. You can play hundreds of hours and not grow tired of it.
