I would save my money and buy NBA 2k9 but it is a decent game
That said the my player mode is absolutely fantastic. It is really exciting and challenging to make your own player and take him through the steps of the NBA, and that game mode alone makes 2k11 a playable game. But there are still many flaws to the game type. For one thing you start at an incredibly low overall, like 40 overall which is absolutely horrendous and that makes it super hard to become a servicable player. For instance any shot you take that isn't perfectly released, no chance it goes in. Or if you try to dribble and a defender is anywhere near you then youve got a turnover. Also they now have acheivement like score 20 points, 30 points and stuff but more achievements would be better to help increase how quickly your player gets better. For example my player is a rebounder who averages 15 rebounds a game, yet despite all the success there i don't get enough points to bring my overall any higher than a 42.
Another thing about the My Player mode is that it is incredibly difficult, always. No matter the difficulty setting, there is also no available rookie mode. This makes it realistic but super difficult, that on top of shaky controls for the PC and its tough to get good. But i think they should make the difficulty like the association and allow for rookie mode to be played and allow game sliders as well. Im always a fan of games allow things to be your choice as to how you play the game mode for instance why not allow for me to change the 3pt to 100 percent id like to do that for a few games, and if you wanna play the game cold turkey and not cheat at all thats cool but allow a little lee way for that
2k11 is dissapointing in that its not a huge step up from even 2k9. The game is more realistic but i for one liked the arcade style game that was 2k9. However despite its flaws it makes up for it almost solely with the My Player addition.
