This game came out using the HL1 engine, and even with those outdated graphics they came out great. You will immerse yourself into close quarters combat and find yourself looking over your shoulder quite often. The sound in the game is beautiful. You can play either alien or marine with tons of upgrades for both. As an alien you can update your alien with better skills or evolve into something totally different! As a marine you can play as the commander or as the infantry. If you think you're good enough to hop into the command console then you'll find yourself basically playing an RTS game. There are so many different things to do in this game and it is very easy to start dropping aliens or chewing up marines.
