Check out this trailer filled with gameplay footage.
This video does not make the game justice at all!! You cant understand the funfactor of the gameplay until you try it! The game is simply unique because it incorporates the combination of strategy type gaming and FPS and advanced teamwork to an amazing level. MARINES= As a Human you can be a commander and see the world from a strategic point (similar to the commander from Battlefield 2), you build stuff and spawn down stuff to your Marines like weapons, jetpacks, ammo, mines and so on and you upgrade weapons aswell etc. But to do that you need resources, thats where the Marines come in, as a Marine you see the world from a FPS point, you are protecting the base while gradually moving out as a team strategically install resources plants which the Commander builds/spawns down and battling aliens, ultimately all this in order to overpower the Aliens, kill them and their base, then you win.
ALIENS= The alien team has no defined leader and so it must communicate and co-operate to ensure different roles are fulfilled as needed. Everybody spawnup as a skulk (a doglike alien with deadly jaws) that can leap and walk on any surface and your objective is to protect the hive the Hive is what keeps every Alien alive, you gradually move out as an alien unit to overpower the Marines As a skulk/alien you have options of evolving to a Gorge Lerk Fade or Onos and back and forth if you wish each Class requires certain amount of resources for you to evolve to GORGE= The builder not for combat even though they can dish some damage, they build resource structures build new hives, offensive/defense structures, they heal hives, heal teammates LERK= Aerial flight fast and fierce. You have a vicious bite for close combat or can shoot spikes or offensive toxin FADE= The perfect assault monster they can give and take heavy damage up close with their slashing or from distance by shooting acid rockets, they can teleport anywhere! Which makes them your worst nightmare ONOS= The dreadnaught, the size of a god damn dinosaur marines can hear the sound of your steps approaching and everybody knows what that is He is extremly armored and powerful. The Onos can bite or devour you, yes i said it, swallow you whole AND GUESS WHAT, YOU AINT DEAD INSIDE OF HIM! U HAVE TO BE TORTURED FOR UP TO 60 SECONDS WATCH THE GRUESOME INSIDES WHILE SLOWLY BEING CRUSHED/INTOXICATED TO DEATH ALIVE!
As an avid longtime NS1 fan (played it since day 1 and still play it sometimes today), i am wetting my pants awaiting this game. :P NS1 was the most fun i ever had in multiplayer and ive played them all games. When NS2 comes out i strongly recommend anybody to at least try this, TRUST ME.... just try it, it will hook you for life.
I loved the first one but this looks exactly the same with a lil graphic upgrade. I would never pay money for that crap
Ummm I like the concept, though the aliens seem to work like from AVP. But here is one thing the definitely need to modify: The sound effects for a gun. What makes a gun fun to shoot? The sound of it tearing the air apart, and everything in its path.
I understand where all the doubtful people are coming from. I'd probably feel the same way but.... I played NS1 before and the game was real fun. The trailer doesn't show the fun factor so it does not do this game justice. But let me tell you, it's fun, you play as human vs aliens and you choose one side and which of the few units you want to be. You win by destroying all your enemy's buildings and units by utilizing teamwork and strategy. It's almost like a starcraft match but you play as 1 of the units of your choice. I wish this game to do well and have many players to play with when i sign on it, so please give it a try when it's out. NS1 was fun (yes long-term even.) so i'm optimistic that NS2 will be just as good. Hope they don't make it too expensive so even the doubtful will consider investing a few bucks in it.
FPS/RTS hybrid? OK. Looks like they ripped off Dungeon Keeper and put it in a UT3 map. But that would be par for the course for Valve...right along with the Quake engine they keep taking credit for and the Worldcraft editor they yanked from the editing community years ago. Coupled with the fact that you will be forced to require Steam to play this thing...you can count me out on yet another Valve game. V@|v3 Free Since 1993!
looks very, very interesting. Love the alien Hive,it only has tentacles so it can rattle them when it's getting burned >.
"um, what exactly is the point of playing this game lol ?? it looks pretty lame." Ohh....ohh god. Just, please leave the internet right now.
Looks dated and runs like crap, but it is expected from a beta. It also deserves a bit of tolerance for mixing styles. I hope they can pull it off.
Glad it's moving on to the beta, I was part of the Alpha/preorder. Very happy to support them. Can't wait until it's out.
The first Natural Selection was my favorite strategy game of all time. So glad to see this shaping up in such an amazing way, and can't wait to be the aliens again. Anyone remember Gorges Gone Wild? Lol.
Its great to see this mod turn into its own game. Great to also see the dreams of a few budding developers come true.
