If you're going to bash a game the least he could do is pronounce the words correctly.

Sorry but I detest English dub voice acting. So glad they have the option for sub titles and Japanese voice acting.

it's funny how this game is put in one of gamespot's most popular recent games , having a score of 8.8 by users and still gets a six :/

me and a buddy of mine play this often enough for it to be worth the buy. also i think the story is a little further in the game then in the anime, the last boss battle was epic too. wish the combat wasnt so easy but i guess its cool how anyone can jump right in and enjoy the game. if your a fan you should buy this game, otherwise You should rent it and see if you like it.

The same moves, just with a different story. You'd think they would have made more changes by now. Just plain lazy.

@Hutchsurfer

You are wrong i thought so to but I played it and they changed almost all the jutsu and the battle system is faster and more responsive.

Play the game you will see its different!

I am a naruto fan, but after they opted to move forward with the namco game rather than UbiSofts game i have been opting NOT to buy these.  The gameplay is sub par to the broken bond one that ubisoft published.

MasonChaos
MasonChaos like.author.displayName 1 Like

@McNeelyJ39 You should more like a fighting game fan. If you were a Naruto fan you would know that these newer games cover the abilities in the naruto series better than the ubisoft games. They were good games at their time, but the naruto series is too epic in its fighting to be a simple 2d fighter.

To all Naruto fans listen up I'm happy you don't get to review this game. I know you can in your profile and such, but I would not trust my 60$ towards a fanboy. Fanboys are unreliable and don't make sense. I bet in all your reviews it will be more positive then negative if your really going to review a game you have to show consideration to newcomers. you also need to know what the heck you are talking about. Not some fanboy pride like everything is so great and sooooo AWAESOME and minor issues doesn't matter and i will give it a 8.0 or a 9.0 no no these non-fanboy people are professional and they know what they are talking about

@JusXiceBeing a fan of something generally means having higher expectations, not lower.

MasonChaos

@JusXice I'm a fanboy and I would still rate this game a 7. Stop being so judgmental. The mechanics on this game is amazing. To be honest, true naruto fans would rate this game low because of the lack of detail on specific fights.

@JusXice

I do agree about the review needs to by objective but the problem with this game is if your not a Naruto follower most likely this game is not for you.

This game is not like tekken or street fighter its a game built around the manga and series its made for the fan in mind and I think that the best way to know if a game is good for you is not by one review but a couple that show different aspects and different views.

I for one think this game is grate because its easy to play and I follow the manga so its fun for me and my friends. I wont recommend this game to any one that didn't read the manga or watch the series because it will be a waste of money for them AND BORING.

Its not Inferior.

For him it is because is not a fan but if you like Naruto you will like this game!

And if your not a fan or at least follower don't waste your money.

@CRAPCOM1926 @nayce54  I'm so sick of people hating on Resident Evil 6 -__- Not the series best by any means, but much better than you claim. Then again you probably only tried the demo if I had to guess?

GS's reviews are always simply an opinion and that opinion was never yours!

thehawk3986

I hate the fans responses to reviews like this. Carolyn gave a decent review about a new Naruto game. I am a huge fan of the series and agree with the review. she didn't say that the game wasnt worth getting, she warned people who are not familiar with the series that they may not want to pick this installment as their first experience because of the lengthy story elements and having previous knowledge of characters and factions is absolutely vital to fully immersing yourself in this game. some of you show your ignorance so quickly sometimes it is ridiculous. grow up guys.

Xyllix
Xyllix

@thehawk3986 It's a pretty bad review because she didn't take its demographic into consideration. She should've almost put herself in the shoes of a fan who actually gives a shit about the story, which clearly she didn't. If you think about it in that respect, it was a rather subjective review. She was probably lost and got bored of the story, which is why she mentioned "getting lost" on at least 3 occasions. Also think about how terribly wrong she was regarding the combat system, also failing to mention its improvements since the previous installment. The lack of things she mentioned just made me turn my brain off, and stopped taking her seriously.

CRAPCOM1926
CRAPCOM1926

@Xyllix @thehawk3986 Is a FIGHTING GAME with NO deep in the gameplay MECHANICHS, What do u expect? hell i love one piece  but most of the games of One piece are just bad or average.

RSM-HQ
RSM-HQ

@CRAPCOM1926 @Xyllix @thehawk3986 It was never going against deep fighters like Street Fighter, Tekken or VF. It's a fan service game for petes sake! &, if nothing else should only be judged against other fan service anime games. Such as? The recent North Star 2 or, as you stated, the recent One Piece.

im getting this wether the nasal reviewer reckons this is good or not. i think if you liked the other series ull love this... he should of touched on the additions instead of the gameplay we know about already... like crumbling scenary and ring out...

@hiverious Don't make that your only point your just going to start a humbug again.... That said although I almost never agree with her end verdicts(check parasite eve 3rd birthday lol) Carolyn always makes valid points I feel this game is going the way of DBZ fighters.

hiverious
hiverious

@OldKye Ah yeah, didn't  mean to start anything by that. Sorry.

From what I got from her review, it seems familiarity with the series is key to enjoying this game, and so its niche appeal may not make it a worthy purchase for everyone interested in fighters. I think that's a fair point.

The problem of touching on additions instead of gameplay that is already known to fans of the series is that some people, myself included, may not have played anything Naruto related (or watched anything the 4th episode for that matter), and so a rundown of gameplay is kind of a good thing.

Unfortunately, there is only so much a reviewer can put into a review, and games are particular in that they are interactive and so a lot of the body of the review will fall on the interactive side of things.

They still have no clue how to pronounce any of the names or terms whatsoever.

OldKye
OldKye

@b0sse just remember that 90% of anime fighter names are foods.

Kakarot means carrot, Vegeta is vegetable, Ichigo means strawberry, and Naruto is a fish cake found in ramen as a garnish.

lol i dont like the STORM series at all, but this one was the best out of all of them. The story was amazingly told, I was surprised by it.

This is one of the worst reviews I've came across in a long time. None of wat she said if accurate. And the things that are actually wrong with the game, she didnt even mentioned.

Like some of you, had to sign in when I rarely do.

This woman clearly has no interest or care for Naruto, and it's translated into the score for this game. She has an "out of the loop" perspective on the game and has no idea what's going on. An actual fan (which is who this game is directed at) would be more suitable to rate this game. She should've taken its demographic into consideration, all the cut scenes and cinematics are actually going to matter to a fan of the series.

As for the combat system it's easy to pick up, difficult to master. She failed to mention the changes in the combat system from the previous installment.

I personally think the only disappointing thing in this game was the roster and minor framedrops. Otherwise, the best game in the series easily pulls an 8.

@Xyllix Exclusively having fans review games is problematized by bias though.

skullandbones91
skullandbones91 like.author.displayName 1 Like

@tom_cat_01 @Xyllix it doesnt have to be a fan. it could be someone who at least knows a thing or two about it. besides, if someone really wanted to know if they would be interested in buying this game and they werent a fan already, there is gameplay that they could watch and do research with other sources if they were that interested in knowing whether or not its right for them. i game that is this far in a SERIES of games is most likely to be played by someone who is already a fan, so it makes more sense for a fan to review the game because they will know what the consumer is likely looking for in a new installment in the series.

I don't know, I really did love the game and outside of some lag when there is too much going on while you explore a city, otherwise it is really a nice game and it is for the fans ( which I am ) and I'm vrey please with the game which offer a different take on fighting system.

Verbally assaulting the reviewer does not help as the reviewer's abilities are not the issue here. I've watched many other reviews that were spot on. The problem with this game is that its score can change depending on the audience, and this is no minor change. The game depends a lot on the Naruto fan base for its profit, and it delivers a lot of fun to that audience. If you are not a Naruto follower, it will be hard to understand what really goes on. From that point of view, yes the game is a 6 as it does not provide any connection with the audience. Thus, cutscenes become too long, gameplay seems too shallow (though we all know there is more to it than just button mashing), the lack of more exploration with such a wonderful engine seems a disappointment. For Naruto fans, it has everything they need to get their annual Naruto fix, and is a 9. When calling out names, one needs to also think professionally. I asked earlier what the logic was when older games scored higher, like 7.5, because they were just like this one, aimed at a particular audience with nothing to give to newcomers. I am not bothered with that anymore as the game is really fun. Though I wish such games would include a more detailed approach in order to prevent the chaos and confusion it will inevitably cause.
