What Empire: Total War should have been

User Rating: 9 | Napoleon: Total War PC
Finally. After being terribly disappointed with an unforgivingly broken and unstable Empire: Total War, they got it right with Napoleon. Since the game has just come out, I can't comment on its long term stabilty. However, it seems to run smoother and take better advantage of the graphics capabilities of state of the art graphics cards. Missing from Empire was a sense of immersiveness that lovers of the Total War series had gotten with Rome and Medieval II. It's back with Napoleon. One of the flaws of Empire is it tried to do too much -- it covered too much land, and you were left with a city or two in a region the size of France. In Napoleon, the campaign areas are smaller but contain more cities and therefore feels more realistic. The graphics are better and more detailed on both the campaign and battle maps, and the battle map terrains and building placements are more complex and realistic. More interesting and varied units round out a vastly improved game over Empire.
