Two more titles arrive on European VC

This week sees the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Kid Icarus on the Wii's Virtual Console.

Nintendo has announced two more games for its European Virtual Console. The first of these two titles is the classic adventure game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, originally released in 1998 on the Nintendo 64.

Ocarina of Time was developed by Shigeru Miyamoto and Eiji Aonuma and is the fifth game in the Legend of Zelda series. The epic quest is thought by many to be one of the greatest adventures ever made, and it is one of the four games to which GameSpot awarded a perfect 10 score. It will cost 1,000 Wii points.

Also released this week is Kid Icarus, originally released on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987. Gamers play a young angel called Pit struggling to defeat the hordes of darkness and free the Goddess of Light. Kid Icarus is available for download for 500 Wii points.

VC Games are good and all, but I can get all the N64 ones on eBay. All I'm after is the SNES ones and Turbografx really. R-Type ftw! What the Wii really needs is more proper games, I crave SSB:Brawl!

Nice to see the EU get the jump on something for a change. They've been getting the short end of the games stick forever. Too many languages floating around makes localisation a royal pain.

For the record Kid Icarus isn't a great game. Now you can play it for yourselves to see its mediocrity. Metroid FTW. There's an old NES game called The Battle of Olympus that is basically what Kid Icarus should have been. Check it out.

Oh, you poor neglected Americans. How awful for you that you won't be getting a few ancient Virtual Console games at the same time as us over-privileged Europeans. It's not enough that you pay roughly half of what we pay for games and that they arrive on your shelves months and months before they land on ours. It's a conspiracy.

"idk i own Ocarina and Kid Icarus looks like a Metroid Clone"

It was really, they were both released at the same time, run on practically the same engine (i think) and Kid Icarus was even known as the sister game to Metroid.

Good for the ones who haven't played them yet, but I have OOT for my N64 AND for my GC, I won't pay for it again.

This would be insanely awesome...if I didn't already get a gamecube copy (complete with Master Quest) when I pre-ordered Wind Waker.

Australia got it this week as well. Downloaded it last night and began playing. It had been a while since I'd played the game, and forgot how similar the early bits were to Twilight Princess. Still lots of fun, and a bargain at only 1000 Wii points.
