I almost have nothing to say about Nitrous Oxide. It's such a simple game, you cannot say too much about it, period. I would not call it a bad game, but it's certainly not special in any way. Nitrous Oxide is a 3D, almost rail-shooter style ship shooting game that has you blast giant termites and random other bugs that look nothing like what they're supposed to be. You are doing each level in a straightforward tube, so never expect to get lost. All you have to do is shoot stuff and dodge stuff until you beat the level or boss.

Sound fun? Well it's not really...at all. It's maybe somewhat enjoyable for about 30 minutes maximum. You'll soon find that the levels will become extremely dull and unenjoyable and blasting those giant bugs will wear thin soon enough. The levels are short, and a lot of times, almost the same as the level before it. However, there are plenty of levels in the game, even though the levels are short. There are over 100 levels in the game, and a 2 player mode as well.

The visuals aren't bad. They're quite unique actually. Well, kind of. There are always flashing lights going off all over in the levels which add some enjoyment to the game, just flying around in your ship, shooting bugs in some strange tube with flashing color lights flickering constantly. However, the visuals aren't very detailed either. Don't expect to see elaborate enemy or boss designs, and your ship isn't much to look at either.

A lot of people think the sound/music is a strong point in the game because it's a licensed soundtrack. The music is done by The Crystal Method so expect to here some techno-dance beats and stuff like that. It's actually pretty well done and fits the game well enough. As a game, Nitrous Oxide really is not much. But, it's worth a try because of how unique and how not unique it is at the same time. At its core, it's a boring space shooter but with a unique coat of a cool soundtrack and some wild visuals.
