Far from the best motocross game made.

User Rating: 6 | MX vs. ATV Alive X360
In MX vs ATV Alive, you will start with few tracks and only 1 type of MX and ATV. You will need to win XP to unlock additional tracks and bikes. There are 16 tracks in total, plus 2 if you bought the game new, which usually includes a code to unlock the James Stewart compound. The bike's categories are MX 125, 250, 450 and ATV 250 and 450.

In singleplayer, there is no career mode, which is really disappointing. There are 3 types of races. Motocross which are the standard races. Short track which are races in which you will cross your opponents in the kind of 8 races. You need to be careful at the crossing points to not hit the other competitors and lose some precious time. The last type is free ride in which there is a bike hidden into each track and you need to achieve few things like jumping a certain distance, height or do a freestyle combo or jam.

In the solo part, there are some challenges that are described and can be achieved. For sure, you will obtain bronze, silver and gold medals for achieving them, but there is not much motivation to do them since you already seem to have beaten the game.

Multiplayer has every types of races in it but usually motocross races are the mostly used. Usually, the level of competition is very high, so be prepared to lose if you are not familiar with the tracks and controls. This mode can add up several hours if you get some good opponents.

Sound is great, but after several hours I decided to put my music in background, so it gets less monotonous. You probably still want to hear the motor reving in case you're followed by someone, so just make just that you still hear the sound of the game.

Graphics look old, but it still does it since you rarely have time to look closely at the landscapes and tracks textures.

Controls could have been better. Sometimes, the motocross will go sideways in the curves. You seem to run into ruts, but the problem is that you really do not have any clue on where they are since the track texture is probably not designed for that, so that makes some curves really tricky to cross.

You will be able to customize your bike as you are racing with it. The more bike XP you win with it, the more parts you get. You can also select from a list of racers, but they are mostly motocross lites guys, so do not expect to race as Villopoto, Dungey or Reed. However, you will have Stewart, Canard, Metcalfe and a lot of others.

There are also some downloadable tracks, but I do not think that they worth buying since a lot of people do not have them, so you will only be able to race on them on your own.

THQ removed some features to make this game cheaper at his release and that can easily be felt. However, since there are not many motocross games, I guess that this is still a good choice for the hardcore motocross fans waiting for an upcoming title.
