Homerun

About the only thing to say about this game is WOW! This game is spectacular and comes loaded with new features and styles of games. The graphics are not top-rate unless you look at the instant replays, and then the graphics look really good. The sound is also really good, the announcers don't really get on my nerves and when you hit the ball weakly, it sounds like a weak hit. The gameplay is also incredible. The amount of custom control you can have over a player makes the game so much more in-depth. I can let the defense take over for me and just concentrate on pitching or hitting, or I could play the whole game all by myself. There were a few minor drawbacks that aren't really enough to take the game down a notch. One is the homerun derby. I really didn't like it, the ball was hard to time because of the split-screen that is always there, even if you play by yourself. The other thing is the amount of contact in this game. I could go maybe 2 or 3 games without striking anyone out, and go the same amount of time without striking out myself. The other thing is the way the outfielders sometimes catch the ball. When they stretch out towards the ball, they turn the glove so that the ball just drops in. It looks like a basket catch in mid-air. A real player would have turned the glove sideways to catch it. But like I said these are all minor little details. Even though I would recommend this game to anyone, it still pays to rent the game first. Baseball takes a little bit of timing, patience, and practice.
