Review of worst game ever on the PS2

User Rating: 2 | MTV's Celebrity Deathmatch PS2
This game is a fighting game based on the hit MTV show called “Celebrity Deathmatch.” Hence, the game also shares that name and tries to live up to the hype that was building in anticipation for this game. The game, however, does not live up to gamers’ expectations. In fact, it disgusted many gamers with poor graphics and horrible gameplay.
A game’s storyline is supposed to be one of it’s biggest turn-on and important to any game but the maker of this game seemed to have no interest in creating any storyline what-so-ever. Even though this is a fighting game and fighting games usually don’t have good plots, at least have something. The single player mode for this game is divided into 6 episodes and each episode contains three fights. Each fight is predetermined so you have to use a specific fighter in each fight and fight against a specific opponent. After winning each episode, you get to unlock a new character. Once you have beaten all 6 episodes, you would have unlocked everything. All 6 episodes usually take an hour or so for the average gamer to beat. You would buy this game and be done with it a few hours later after playing many single matches. The fights are completely random and have no meaning to anything.
The game’s fighting design is ridiculous to be generous. There is an attack assigned to each button: x, o, ∆, and . This means that you have 4 basic attacks and a couple new ones if you pick up a weapon or enter into death mode after beating your opponent to a pulp. The design is ridiculously simple and unattractive. The attacks or moves that each character initiate is cool at first but will appear stupid after only a few matches. The difficulty is also truly embarrassing. The simple design, plus the easy opponents make this game child’s play. In fact, my 5 year old cousin, who has never played a fighting game before or any game for that matter really, picked up the controller and dominated all of his opponents. He was just pressing random buttons and had flawless victories many times. A good game should be able to counter random button pressing but this game rolled over and played dead.
The music, when there is any, is very limited and from a bad selection. The graphic is from the t.v. show and is the only decent thing about this game even though it is mediocre at best. I am a huge fan of celebrity deathmatch and of fighting games but this game made it to my worst game of all time list at #1. After one day, I broke this game in half and threw it into the trashcan. Buy this game at your own risk!!! And remember, I warned you. This game does not deserve a spot on anyone's video game shelf.
