Hilariously fun and addictive racing
Graphics:
M:PR is a great looking game. On a HDTV, the textures are lovely and evolution studios have really nailed the tropical setting. Every landscape from fuming volcanic landscapes to the dizzying heights of the cliffs looks great. Not the best out of the lot but very nice indeed. The presentation of the menus is simple and original with loads of colour and imagination. 9/10
Gameplay:
The boost heavy gameplay is great for casual racers like me and is constanlty intense from start to finish. THe different vehicle classed add lots of flavour to tactics, so you can go nimble and quick with the bike or juggernaught it through with a big rig. It's all down to your style. The tracks are fun and chaotic, newcomers like a dad for a quick game will struggle with where to go as it isn't sometimes very clear. The often gripe is that the game is just too hard (cornering for example) but you just have to get the hang of the handbrake or braking. There are loads of jumps and obstacles to keep you interested mud effects for example or heating your boost on fire maps is all very fun. My only onnoyance is Sugar Rush is f*****g hard. 9/10
Sound:
Manic rock music is excellent and all the vehicles sound great. 9/10
Overall a hectic, chaotic and unbelievably fun racing game that will keep you hooked for ages. I actually had to have my eyes checked after one session. That just shows how cool I am......
