What we have here is the foundation of all Mortal Kombat console games. Mortal Kombat's concept was nothing new at the time, a vertical fighter, what what id did provide was some great characters that made the game more addicting to play, as well as some awesome moves.
To start you can choose from one of seven characters, Johnny Cage, Kano,Sonya,Liu Kang,Sub-Zero,Scorpion, and of course Raiden. Throughout the game there are some appearances by other characters including the one and only Reptile.
As far as the gameplay, it is a pretty hard learning curve I wouldnt expect to just pick up a controller and start whoopin up on opponents.
The graphics are very nice for this point and time in gaming, very life like with convincing backgrounds that makes for a nice experience.
Sound: Addictive and genious, im sure many of us couldnt get the theme song out of our heads for months.
Value: If you can find an old cartdridge buy it. It is definately a collectors ite m and worthhaving.
