Same old Mortal Kombat

User Rating: 8 | Mortal Kombat II PS3
Mortal Kombat II for the PS3 is an arcade port from way back in 1993. Surprisingly it holds up to the arcade classic. If you are familiar with MKII or played MKII on Midway Arcade Treasures theres nothing really new to the gameplay, special attacks, fatalities, friendships, and secrets are still present in their original form. One of the newest features though for the PS3 version of MKII is online play, however, its not executed well. There is no lobby for you to meet other players and pick who you want to fight, instead to make a room and wait for someone to search and join your room then your taken to multiplayer kombat. Playing online to can be at times sluggish, sometimes it will start to lag and making it hard to fight your opponents because you can see their movements. Also the leaderboard system is based on your winning streak not on wins and loses ,which it doesn't keep a record of. I found that strange to have a winning streak as a leaderboard but then again learning from past MK online games sore losers would disconnect and wouldn't be given a lost. Also there is no headset support since I had bluetooth headset turned on for the longest time and no one said a word. Graphically its pretty much the sames as it was in 1993 but the menus before going into the game are ugly. The sounds are still great even if you here Get Over Here 10 times in a fight. Mortal Kombat II for PS3 is a decent title for the PS Store pricing at $4.99 which is a good buy, I would recommend it for fighting and MK fans.
