Despite its flaws, it is a good game to spend the afternoon.

Mortal Kombat has always been in my opinon a consistent series. Here we have a PSP portable version of the Gamecube game Mortal Kombat Deception. We also get 4 characters that were not included in the Gamecube release. Though for those who have played Deception and Deadly Alliance, this game really won't seem that much different as it has the same feel as its predecessors.

Though i did really enjoy the arena's and how they really could turn the tide of the battle, especially the ones that can instantly kill you or your opponent if you fall into the trap. The graphics were decent though it didn't look so good after winning a fight when you see the fighter's faces it seems a bit too skinny. The gameplay was basically the same so you didn't really need to learn anything new because if you have played Deadly Alliance you would already be familiar with the control system. Fatalities are still awesome to perform though i wish it could have been a lot easier to perform some fighter's fatalities. Hara Kiri was a nice little addition and pretty awesome as fatalities. Overall Fatalities still kept their awesomeness and are still pretty fun to do.

Although the graphics were decent, i think they could have done better especially since some of the arena's it does seem like they didn't put some effort into some arena's more than others as i have seen some plain dark cell shading and such. The fighters could have been a bit more detailed especially the faces as they look a bit distorted.

Despite the graphics, this game was still pretty fun to just play and it doesn't even need a learning curve. Although this game is rated M for Mature, and rightly so as it is pretty gory and graphic especially when performing fatalities or sending your opponent to be impaled into spikes or crushed. So this wouldn't be a game for younger kids as it may be to graphic. Overall i did enjoy it and despite the flaws it still is a good way to spend an afternoon.
