Mortal Kombat: Deception takes what we already love and adds more...nice.

User Rating: 9.5 | Mortal Kombat: Deception PS2
Mortal Kombat: Deception is easily one of the greatest fighting games ever made. The Kombat is easily the star of its various modes; three fighting styles per karacter (two hand-based, one weapon-based), two Fatalities per karacter, one 'Hara Kiri' per karacter (a suicide move, should you loose), muli-tiered arenas and 'Death Traps'. And, yes, online play is supported on PS2 and XBox. No other fighting franchise even attempts all these cool perks. This puts Midway on top.

The other modes aren't what you'd expect from a fighing game, but are pretty cool extras, none-the-less. 'Puzzle Kombat' is a "Tertris"-like mode that adds a cool MK twist (think:"Super Puzzle Fighter"). "Chess Kombat" is as the name emplies: a chess mode with MK fights and Fatalities. And then there's "Konquest Mode": a story mode that weaves a plot to the tournament through a karacter named "Shujinko". The Konquest Mode is basically a glorified training mode where you can unlock new karacters, arenas and bonus kontent. The unlockables are what justifies Konquest.

All in all, no other fighing franchise comes close to offering this much bang for your buck. If you like fighting games or are a Mortal Kombat fan, you simply can't go wrong here.
