Some of the best gameplay ever in a fighting game.

User Rating: 8.2 | Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance (UK) XBOX
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance is in one word: superb. It features the best combat system ever used in any game of any genre! The combat system seems simple enough at first, but as you progress through the tutorial it gets very complex. After about 2 trys of frusturation, it becomes easy and fun through out the game, with every character. As you progress through the game, you'll also notice the depth of all the combos and fatalities. Speaking of fatalities, a "fatality" is a sadistic, gory combo move you finish the end round with. You don't always get a chance to do one, though. The characters in this game are new ones, and all the classic ones from the old mortal kombat games. You can get all different sorts of characters, such as, a reptile or a robot. The characters have their own bio that you can read, and I recommend reading them because they make the story and the whole all-around game much more interesting. The arenas are pretty good, too. There are some little traps in there that make the fight funner. Graphically, this game has some flaws. Like the animations are very stiff and unrealistic. And the graphics, such as the blood effects, can be better thmselves, because this game is all about blood and you'd figure that the blood effects would be great. The sound is good. The voice acting is good, the voiceovers are good and the sound FX are good. This game has alot of value. There is alot of unlockable stuff, but there is one flaw that some people may think is minor, some people think is major, or some people might like this unusual "feature" : When you get "koins" in arcade mode, you use them to unlock stuff. But when you go to the "krypt", the place where you buy unlockable items, you don't know what you're getting. What I mean is, everything is in a tomb where you can't see it, and they don't tell you what it is, and you have to guess the tomb where you think the unlockable is. And it gets even worse. There are about 100 tombs, and each of them have a different price. Even if what's under the tomb is worth maybe 200 koins to you, like concept art, it may be 100,000 koins. Or if there's a very rare character, it may be even 100,000,000 koins to you, it may be 100 koins. I find this very confusing and dissapointing. Any how, this is an overall superb game that's worth buying if you can forgive that one flaw I just told you about, and some of the graphical flaws. I think it would also be safe to say if this is your first fighting game, it may be a tad to complex. Other than that, this is a must buy for it's amazing fighting system.
