Best Mortal Kombat to date, even though it has some flaws.

User Rating: 9 | Mortal Kombat PS3
Mortal Kombat 9 is by far the best in the series. I grew up playing the older MK games, the majority of which were amazing. But this one tops them all. The graphics are pretty good for a fighting game such as this. Sure, they aren't the best in the world but they are still impressive. The sound effects sound just right and are synced perfectly with all of the moves. The X-ray attack sound effects are by far the best to the point where both the sound and visual will make you cringe. And of course, the gameplay is beyond amazing, you keep playing and playing and the game never gets old. And since you can play with some friends or even online with strangers, thats even better. The combat is incredibly bloody and fun. The fatalities are also back and more brutal than ever. The story mode is also very fun and it gives you a chance to try out other characters you thought you would never play, some of which turn out to be quite pleasing in my own opinion.

However, there are a few negatives in this game, only 2 of which are worth mentioning. The jumping button is EXTREMELY sensative for some controllers. Occassionally, I will be in a match and I jump and the control stick gets "stuck" and my character continues to jump several times. This flaw can easily be the result of you losing a match. I have also tried quite a few controllers, some of which weren't even mine and I still encountered the problem.

The other problem worth noting is that Shao Khan is beyond annoying and overpowered. The only true way to beat him is to spam a ranged attack at him from the other side of the arena. I have tried going head to head with Shao Khan in melee range and he destroys me in seconds, most of his attacks are also unblockable.

In a nutshell, Mortal Kombat 9 is by far the best in the series, and despite some minor flaws, it is still an amazing game that will keep you busy for hours and hours on end.
