Mortal Kombat makes a Serious Komback...

I have followed Mortal Kombat since its early days as a coin-op arcade and loved every minute of it. When Mortal Kombat II came out, I was impressed with the new backgrounds, added character selections. Although, I hated that the Pit Fatality required a button sequence but it was still fun. I did think the Babality and Friendship moves as a bit much but still added to the entertainment.

Then Mortal Kombat 3 came out and started to see more characters pop up and more backgrounds that were actually designed to interface with them. But then Mortal Kombat IV came out and by then people were exhausted and annoyed at the surprising death of Liu Kang. However, all was not lost. After some time off, Ed Boon and his co-creator, John Tobias went back to the drawing table and re-designed Mortal Kombat to ring in the new era of gaming consoles.

It has been a great pleasure to play this game once again on my PS3. They kept many of the design from MKII but combined the character selections of MKIII. The story mode is incredible and the Arcade Modes made me feel like the kid I was in the arcades. Let us not forget how crisp and appealing the graphics turned out as well. Overall, this game is great. However, the only thing I knit pick at is that the loading times were often tedious but reasonably quick. I recommend this game very much. Even if you cannot get a Collector's version, the game itself is worth it. See you online...
