This game just made me like the movie even more.

When I first saw the poster for the Monsters vs. Aliens in the cinema, I was determined to watch the movie. After watching it, that was easily my favourite (although it has since been surpassed by Horrid Henry: The Movie). When I heard that Activision were releasing a game, I was mega-pleased. When I got it for my birthday... I PEED. My cousin and my bro were pure witnesses.

The game is based on the storyboard of the movie, though new bits have been added. The alien robot and Galaxhar bits get a part in the game, accompanied by two other sections based on The Avenger (a huge robot guarding the place where the monsters are imprisoned) and a scorpion monster (Galaxhar's second attempt to retain his quantonium). You'll be playing as three characters from the movie, Ginormica, The Missing Link and B.O.B., while Dr. Cockroach is available for co-operative play.

The overall gameplay is pretty sweet. You can collect Monster DNA which you can use to buy bonus items in the DNA lab, and there is a lot of button mashing, though it hurts your fingers, and the game is quick to give you information you didn't previously know. I did find the loading times a bit slow though.
Another problem is graphics. I found the PS2 graphics were actually significantly worse than on PS3 and Wii, and looking at other PS2 games such as Sypro: A Hero's Tail, I don't know what Activision were doing.

However, this game is an enjoyable remake of the movie and just emphasises why it's my second favourite movie.
