A monster truck game with a Monster Jam License. Sound like a "Monster" hit. Not so much...

At first, this game seemed like a great idea. It's been a while since there has been a decent monster truck game (Monster 4X4 was a mess) so many monster truck enthusiasts looked to this game as a breath of fresh air. Now this game is equiped with an official Monster Jam License, which means you get to race as fan favorites Grave Digger, Maximum Destruction, Monster Mutt, and many others. Now the racing in this game revolves around stadium racing (like the racing events in actually Monster Jam), St. Louis Style racing which is a two lap race inside a stadium, and outdoor racing circuits. These races are usually full of huge air and much destruction, which is a must have in Monster truck game. It also hosts a freestyle mode where you attempt to appeal the judges by destroying everything in the arena. Freestyle is a disappointment because your score tends to be based off a points data, instead of virtual judges. You usually have to make a string of 7 tricks to clinch a win, which is nearly immpossible. The Wii's motion sensing controls make driving these trucks fun but it seems the sensitivity is a little off. The physics in this game aren't good. When you go for a jump, the truck will tend to flip in the air, which makes hopping the "buses" and jumps in Freestyle a pain. The flags (or ears on Monster Mutt) actually flow realisticly with the "wind" and can fall off with the damage given on your truck. All in all this game takes some patience with some not so tuned physics and "get-boring-quick" gameplay. I haven't even gotten to the World Finals in my 15 hours of playing. This game will be fun for kids to see they're favorite truck tear up the course but definily a game to skip for die-hard monster truck enthusiasts.
