Monster hunter is a game that deserves a score higher than it gets.

User Rating: 7.9 | Monster Hunter PS2
Monster Hunter is fun and addictive both on and offline, but when you play offline you do find a cetain want to be with companions. The best part of the game is easily the improvement of your weapons, as you gather materials from monsters in the field you can upgrade your weapons ranging from lances, hammers, to huge or shorter swords. Just trying to save up enough money and items to upgrade is what drives the game since most of the character interactions are quite simple and sometimes boring, most of the text doesn't even matter just the goal of the mission, the time limit, and the reward.

When playing online it is great to see the variety of items people have along with the different armor. But if you are going to play online you are absolutely going to want a USB keyboard, when i tried to play the game without one communication was almost impossible so teamwork was not much of an option.

The variety of monsters and the different locales make the game fun to look at but at the same time some of the graphics are a bit not that great. Overall monster hunter is great if you plan to play online, it's still fun offline but not as much. The game is worth trying at least once and it surely deserves a score higher than what most of the critics gave it.
