i bought this game awhile back. it was so fun that i played it for hours upon hours. Monster hunter is a action rpg set in a prehistoric fantasy world. where you will be hunting monsters in all shapes and sizes. the game has alot to offer.( except for its shutdown online mode which was the main highlight of the game.) you start off as a rookie hunter and work your way up. you start by hunting fairly easy monsters to kill even if you have no clue what your doing and then as you progress you end up fighting giant monsters and dragons. there is a great number of weapons and armor. i really like how you have to go out and find the items needed to make new weapons and armor other wise the game would be all to easy. you get the specific materials by either searching in a nest, some bushes, etc or by killing a monster and carving it out of its body. most of the weapons and armor resemble the monster you killed to get the materials. there are several maps each having their own feel. the game gets difficult as you progress, you will find yourself running away as you are being chased by a wyvern, or you will find yourself throwing the controller on the ground because the monster shot a fireball at you and your sword wasnt strong enough to keep you alive and in my case, standing in the middle of the desert and dying because of dehydration. each hunt you go on gives you a certain time limit to complete, which is most of the time, more than enough to complete you hunt. most quests give you 50 minutes to kill something. i will not even touch on the multiplayer aspect, because it is no longer available to the USA. but over all this game is just right for the ps2, it is worth the $20 at the store. if you want to play the multiplayer either get a Wii and wait for MH3 to be released on it or get 2 PSPs and play online via adhoc mode.
