Modnation Racers is simply better than Mario Kart. If you like the karting games then this is simply a must buy. It is a simply concept race around a track and pick up power ups. There are different types of power ups if you acquire three power ups without using it, it becomes a super power up and rips up the racers in front of you. Just like any other racer, it is very responsive and the controls are simple to pick up. Drifting is very important, and mastering this will be key to your success in the game.

Career

This part of the game is pretty straightforward. You play races and beat up on the A.I ( which is sometimes quite difficult) and unlock certain items as you progress.
All in All this is the weakest part of the game. To actually finish the campaign you will need a solid 20+ hours. But dont worry because it this game has much more to offer.

Creation

This is meat of this game. In the Creation Station you can create mods ( the people in the game), tracks, and karts. the creation tools are very user friendly and fun to use, plus there is no cap for user creation. All the stuff you create you can post online for others to use. This leads me to another important part of this game, you can download an infinite number of other peoples content online, so the fun virtually never stops. The Developers really put this at the treshold of this game, and i can say that i was worth it. Tracks do take a while to make, but some truly spectacular tracks can be made.

Mutliplayer

The split screen is less than memorable with a simple 4v4 maximum setup. But the online multiplayer is where it is at. There is 30 total levels in online play. You can do a single race, or a race series. There are still tons of people playing online, and the competition can be stiff at times. Continue to practice and you will be there someday.

Lastly, the Modspot. this is the center of the game and it is very impressive. You can talk with other racers, check out the lastest news, and the most popular mods, tracks, and karts through this area.

This game excels in all areas. If you like kart racers at all, i seriously encourage you to check it out. The only setbacks is the campaign length, and the offline multiplayer. These setbacks are not enough from keeping it from becoming a PS3 greatest hit.
