Centipede Review
The slowdown isn't enough to submarine the fun in this title.
Centipede is one of those games that will never go away. While other retro titles have evolved and repackaged themselves into exciting, new forms (some more successful than others), Centipede is content to remain more or less in stasis. If you're a fan of classic gameplay, this won't bother you in the slightest.
The mobile version of Centipede, now available on Sprint Vision phones, is exactly what you'd expect from any good mobile port. You've got your mushrooms, your spiders, and, of course, your centipedes, and it's your job to lay waste to these overgrown critters. Nothing's changed here, and that's a good thing.
My main issue with the game is that the control was somewhat laggy. This forces you to compensate by leading your shots--a trick I learned while playing Quake online with a 28.8 modem. This slowdown, however, isn't enough to submarine the fun in this title--nor will it impede the feeling of sweet nostalgia you'll get from playing it.
