- The Bottom Line:
- "Just plain fun"
Mirrors Edge has been out forever now, so I don't really need to explain the plot. This revew will be for anyone who is still on the line about getting this game.
Good Stuff:
1. First Person Platforming (super immersive)
2. Great Hit & Run Combat, Disarm Moves, Occational (but not mandatory) Gunplay. (and damn, some of the guns look and sound great)
3. Anime style cutscenes.
4. Trance Soundtrack.
5. Every Building becomes a new opportunity to pull off amazing leaps and bounds.
6. Decent Story with great Voice Acting.
7. Incredible Colorful Art style, never seen before in a video game.
8. A unique experience unlike any other game in the First Person genre today. (the only games i can think of that even come close would be last generations Breakdown or this generations Zeno Clash)
9. Replay the beautiful levels as Time Trials plus TT downloadable content.
Bad Stuff:
1. Extreme Trial & Error gameplay. YOU.WILL.DIE. A LOT.
2. Some terrible level design that will make the less than patient gamer frustrated. (ex. Upon entering a room without any clear mission objectives, not only are you tasked with figuring out the best way to clear the area, but the enemy is taking pot shots at you as well. again, get ready to die a lot.)
3. Long Loading Times while being stuck in countless elevators.
So there you have it. The good points definiely outweigh the more frustrating parts (which are mainly few and far between). With decent replay value and complely original idea, Mirrors Edge is a definite keeper!
