One of the best games of 2008. If you have not tried Mirrors Edge yet, then you are really missing out.
The game takes place in a fictitious city that is ruled by a totalitarian government. Similar to the book 1984, this government always monitors everything that the citizen does in the name of security. You play as Faith, a person known as a runner. Runners are a group of people who pass sensitive information to another. However, the story revolves around Faith trying to help her sister after she was framed for a crime she didnt commit. You run mostly from rooftop to rooftop, evading cops and finding leads to connect the story together. It has lots of thrills and its fast paced. However, it does require patience. Its easy to get stuck on a rooftop and you have no idea were to go. Trial and error otherwise. But once you master all the levels, its a thrill ride. When you have to engage in combat. Its mostly hand to hand. You can take the enemies guns and use them but the game is meant for you to not use them. It encourages you to keep moving forward. You can try to fight them with guns but you will learn that its better to just keep moving.
The good: Fast-paced action, awesome sounds and music. beautiful graphics. Also you control a living, breathing person. You look down and you can see your body rather than a picture of a gun or hands attached to a disembodied camera.
The bad: The story is short, no co-op or multiplayer and some players may have a tough time figuring out the levels.
Overall, an awesome experience. I just keep coming back to play this story over and over. I highly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of action-adventures or those who are tired of FPSs that wanna try something new and unique.
