First things first, Minecraft is a beautiful game full of beautiful things all around.
The word beautiful comes from the feeling of beauty that you get when certain events in the game occur. Yes the whole world is blocks and older-generation graphics, get over it, Once you do it is amazing. First time I watched this game it was in an alpha stage, there was not much to it but it was intersting. I did not get into it so easily as I was not sure what it was completely. Once I decided to buy the game myself I began to fully understand. Starting out my first night and trying to create a shelter was fun, but it wasn't until I was being watched by "villagers" above (Or so I thought they were villagers) that I started to realize the sheer massiveness of this game. "Hello friends" I said as I walked up to the glowing eyes in the distance, Offering them my shelter or hoping they had their own. Instantly I was struck aside as these "friends" were more like "skeletons" and "spiders" making noises at me. They struck me as I walked up to them so I frantically ran back to my shelter in the pitch black.
Minecraft is a game of learning, Some learn really quickly and build amazing things and have amazing adventures. I learned the hard way, I made every mistake you can make. I am not a very patient person and I will admit to throwing the controller and turning off the system as soon as the"Mission Failed" text appears over my screen, But there is a magic to minecraft that makes you want to progress. "Oh wow a mountain!" you say looking off in the distance "Wait, I can climb it?", Sure! Go ahead and climb that mountain. Better yet why dont you find materials all around and build yourself a nice home there and live there until all the monsters nearby fear you...their king.
Just when you think you wont play minecraft anymore they seem to update the game, There is always an update around the corner. This game has constant potential for updates, Talks and rumours get you all the more excited. When you hear the creator saying things like "yeah a dragon would be cool, we may add that!" you start to get really excited. Knowing that there are creators out there still wanting to make their game improve makes you feel like this already incredibly large game is even larger as there are other worlds out there that people are exploring.
Minecraft has built up quite a huge fanbase filled with "youtubers" and "modders". Both of these have made the games lasting appeal last even longer. Seeing how someone has made a mod which adds more animals to the game or more realistic textures to the grass, This also gets your creative juices all.. well juicing!
No game is perfect, That is my philosphy. Minecraft however, falls very close to that line of a "Perfect game" for me. There will be people out there however that cannot ignore the graphics, Others will not like the rewards system as they are used to quests and storyline such as Skyrim. Personally I could do away with those things and I get passed it easily, However I do stop playing minecraft once in a while. So what? I stop playing any game after awhile, the difference is that I always end up picking up minecraft again knowing that no matter what I can enjoy it. It will never look dated, and the gameplay is already hyper-addictive. Reminds me of Age Of Empires 2 in the sense of never getting boring. All in all it is an amazing game that fills my head with fantasy and fills my heart with hope and happiness.
I fully recommend minecraft to anyone, Why not try the free demo? It is an incredible game that has changed how I look at games in the future. Sure Game A is fun now but will it improve later in the future? Why would I keep playing later? These are questions I would like to ask when a game releases.
By the Way, I have now put 400 hours into Minecraft, My Girlfriend and I play weekly at my house on a Lan server and have created an entire "Dream" to get lost in.
Enjoy!

It's such a simple principle, but it contains so much possibilities.

- So, I was trying to make a fire place in my Minecraft house. And I ended up burning the place. So, in order to prevent the flames from spreading, I had to flood my house.Posted Oct 1, 2011
