Minecraft will save your current location when you quit, and i think even if you force quit (that may depend on if it has quick saved or not), but if you mean the initial spawning point into a world which you go back to when you die, then i dont think there is at the moment, unless something is added into it at some point.

Yes,the game does save when you quit,also when you autoquit.

Well you can go to Library/Application Support/minecraft/saves and move the files to wherever you want, notice that to use them you'll need to put them back
