Microsoft will bring the high standards of its Flight Simulator line down to earth with its authentic railroad sim, which is scheduled for release later this season.
Revealed at the Gamestock event earlier this year, Microsoft Train Simulator is designed to re-create this unique and influential mode of transportation for your PC in six real-life routes. The game sports a fully 3D engine and lets you view your train from any angle, inside or out. It'll also let you act in the role of the engineer, who's responsible for commandeering the train, or let you relax as a passenger in one of the cabins. The game is scheduled for release this spring.
Microsoft Train Simulator will attempt to accurately re-create famous worldwide routes, such as the Flying Scotsman Railways in England, the Odakyu Electric Railway near Tokyo, and the Venice Simplon Orient Express. These different routes will come complete with unique scenarios designed to challenge you in the role of engineer. From simply having you keep strict track of time to having you avert potentially disastrous situations, Train Simulator will let you engage in any number of real-world train scenarios. The game will also include editing features to let you create your own railways.
