Doesn't live up to the prior version

I was quite excited seeing all the new enhancements that Abacus was stating as being in this new version. I was waiting impatiently for the registration key and for the download to finish once the email finally arrived. Unfortunantly, this excitement deminished after it was installed and ready to use. Unlike the pervious version and the FS2004 version of the same software, the carriers in the FSX installation of Flight Deck 5 are only usable in missions. This mean no free flight carriers. After trying to trick the installer into thinking I was using FS2004 I was able to get the carriers but no arrestor cable nor catapult launch functions, and no manual install option. After contacting Abacus support they confermed that the carriers are, indeed, only within missions. I never imagined that they would degrade such a high profile package so much, removing the basic functions that people have had all along (note the nav aids etc are also gone in the FSX version) to become a mission pack only. As a result I've uninstalled and gone back to Flight Deck 4, which with the current patch works fine in FSX and have requested a refund from Abacus. Thank goodness for their policy on that! Hopefully they will release a patch in the future or go back to making it a good expansion again in Flight Deck 6.
