Micro Machines 64 turbo is a game that most people can enjoy, despite its minor upsets.

User Rating: 6.7 | Micro Machines 64 Turbo N64
Micro Machines 64 turbo deals with little toy cars in little levels that race in realistic settings. An idea for a game like this is actually pretty great, but unfortunately this game didn't pull off what most people had in mind.

You'll be able to choose from a distinct variety of riders in Micro Machines. All of them have their own cooky personalities, which seems to fit how their vehicles appear in games. Of course this really doesnt affect any aspect of the game itself, because its all the same cars with different colors representing the players. Its still pretty entertaining to see how they respond when you choose them, or how they look when they loose.

The environments in Micro Machines look pretty good for the most part, and add a little bit of excitment to the game. You'll be racing in many different environments, such as a dinner table, a breakfast table, a beach, a pond, and a living room. Some obstacles involve doging forks, carrots, makeshift book ramps, and crusing through a path full of alphabits. The environments correspond to the type of vehicle you have to use. The only vehicles avaible in the game are mainly tanks, boats, and cars. Theyre are many unlockables in this game, especially tiny versions of cars that actually do exist.

The AI in Micro Machines 64 is very good. Most of the time you'll lose if you make the wrong turn, or crash for just a few seconds. Luckily, this game has small power-ups to offer. Some of which involve blowing other machines into pieces, or grabbing your oppenents and throwing them behind you. This pretty much evens out your chances of winning or losing against the AI.

With all the many different environments to enjoy, its shame that this game has bad camera angles. Most of the time this is the reason why players will take wrong turns, and end up losing the game. This leads me to the fact that this game is very unforgiving to those without a memory pack. Those who make great progress and end up losing all their lives will have to start the entire game again.

If you have a friend, Micro Machines 64 Turbo offers a decent multiplayer mode. The multiplayer mode offers your standard racing match, but with a twist. Since this game doesn't allow split screen, both of you have to stay on the screen in order to race. The player that stays behind stops the game and explodes, losing a point to the other player. Every player has 4 points in the game, and whoever takes the four points from each other will win. The multiplayer it has is nothing fancy, but at least you will have access to all the same power-ups.

Overall, Micro Machines 64 turbo is decent racing game. With its variety of interactive environments and cars, this game should be satisfying to most people who play it.
