@jackroussel If there's a Bookman's where you live, they should have it for pretty cheap. Also try Amazon.com or any other used/online store. I'm looking at the game on Amazon right now, and it's $4 for the cheapest used copy.
I'm playing through this game again in the trilogy pack and it's amazing how well it holds up for a game that's over a decade old. I couldn't believe it when i saw it came out in 2002. I thought it was 2005 at least. My favourite part is the demon's souls-ian story telling where you only find out as much as you look for. And what an amazing and realistic story it is for a sci-fi shooter. Not to mention it still LOOKS fantastic for a freaking gamecube game.
I couldn't give this game enough praise.
If you have the ability to play it on wii with motion controls i highly recommend it.
This was the only big nintendo franchise that hadnt been converted to 3D back then.
Like Zelda and Mario on N64, it was absolutely flawless!
Nintendo needs to go back to making decent consoles, with decens specs.

They have always been king at Gameplay, and still are, but I dont like it that their console have low specs compared to the rest. Visuals need to evolve too.
I want that: "Ooooh my Godddd" effect back, like I had with Ocarina of Time and this one.
1 Like Don't know why I'm watching this review now, but I just realised that Metroid Prime is almost 10 years old. Just a few more months... I really should find an old TV and test if my good old GameCube is still working, because I love this game and I need to play it through when my copy of it becomes 10 years old... I got it for my 13th birthday and it's my 3rd favourite game ever with only The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Mass Effect 2 ahead of it...

Why don't more games these days have enough heart, style, and content to warrant a near 20 minute review? Metroid Prime is easily my favorite console Metroid, and one of my top three games from the Gamecube. Pure gaming pleasure.

I just love to watch these old reviews and for a game that is top 3 on my list of "Best games of all time". The opening cinematic is magical. Greg Kasavin is also maybe my favorite reviewer of all time, top 3 at least. I just enjoy these old reviews more than what we see today.
I just picked this up used at gamestop for 3.99. A great deal for an amazing game. I love it.
The Metroid Prime series was impeccable. I wish Retro Studios had developed a sci-fi shooter for the Wii ( Metroid Prime 3 does not count, that more of an Exploration type game). They would have done a much better job with a shooter than High Voltage did with The Conduit. High Voltage was the wrong studio for that kind of game.They make liscensed titles, and they should just keep to that. Retro Studios pays attention to art, atmosphere, and has a better overall sense of development than the losers at High Voltage.
If you actually read the story it's actually really cool. And unlike like most games it actually makes sense.
who remembers getting to the heart of the space pirate metroid testing facility, and then you get the heat visor, and then all the lights go out and all you hear is a tonne of metroids breaking out of the cages? just one of many priceless moments in this game!
I ordered Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2 Echoes for Gamecube on Amazon.com!!!! I can't wait to get them!!!! : )
I'll never forget the end boss. Probably one of the hardest boss fights I've ever played through, and I count Ninja Gaiden Black among my favourite games. It was satisfying when I finally finished Metroid Prime. Truly one of the best games ever made.
I just purchased a Wii (I am a PS3 fanboy) but must admit the Wii is awesome. Which is even greater is its backwards capabilities, I went on amazon bought a gamecube controller, memory card and metroid prime and am psyched about finally playing this awesome game. I love metroid when I was a kid
Playing through the games on the trilogy, there really aren't many games that age this beautifully. If anything, the new controls make the game even better. I've never understood why the user score is 9.3, I've met maybe three people in my life that doesn't think it's one of the best games ever :P Ah well, 9.3 is still awesome, just like this masterpiece.
One of the finest achievements in video game design, a truly superb game that I can play again and again. Fantastic gameplay and a great art design push this game towards being one of the greatest games of all time. If you haven't played this game, you need to!

Haha, $50... the game is $3.99 at gamestop now. I'm glad that gamestop realizes that everyone should be able to own Metroid Prime.
The new Metroid: Other M is good, but very disappointing compared to this masterpiece. Then again, most games are disappointing compared to the Metroid Prime trilogy.

I played through this game when I was younger, and today I purchased the trilogy pack. If anything I'm even more impressed with this game than when I first played it, and everything from the graphics to the pacing to the basic gameplay is virtually unmatched even today.
