This game is probably the best game ever to come out on the GameCube.

1994. That was the year Super Metroid came out, and it seemed to mark the end of the series. Now, fast-forward 8 years, and two Nintendo consoles later. It's time to continue on, but in a new direction. Metroid Prime for the GameCube saw the series shift from a platformer/shoot-em-up game to a full first-person shooter. And when you see the graphics for the first time, you just can't help but gasp in awe. This game is incredibly detailed, showing off the power of Nintendo's little box. And this time, you can judge the book by its cover and still be right. Gameplay mechanics in this game pretty much follow suit with the previous game - you go through various stages and search for upgrades in order to reach the final boss. The standard repertoire of items is here - missiles, Power Beam upgrades, and a plethora of support items. And once you get to the final boss, you definitely won't be beating it on the first try - it's very difficult. The Pro Logic II sound puts you right in the middle of the action, complementing the graphics. And the story of Samus Aran's quest to thwart the Space Pirates will have you looking everywhere for clues - not only to unravel the story, but also to complete the game 100%. Overall, the time-tested formula of the Metroid games does not go to waste here, rather, it is completely revitalized in a way that makes you want to play. So, go play it! You won't be disappointed.
