Probably, not only the single most atmospheric game, but also the best FPAA ever created. This game is not a FPS!

THE GOOD:
> Very responsive, innovative, immersive and fun controls;
> Lots of weapons and abilities, all used in different and fun ways through the the game;
> Great amount of depth in gameplay;
> Great variety of enemies, each one with it's specific behavior and weakness;
> The "Space Pirates" enemies have great A.I.;
> The enemies are placed in the levels in a smart and logic, but unpredictable, way, helping the player feel that Samus is alone in a dangerous huge world;
> Beautiful graphics in all aspects (special and light effects, textures and colors), from the top bright snow to the bottom dark mines;
> Creative enemy design and animations, specially metroids and other tough ones;
> Immersive and dynamic soundtracks, that add allot to the already atmospheric game;
> Great sound effects, specially the sounds from the creatures that live in the world;
> Outstanding level design, making the world seem like a giant maze, where you must find your way into the next path, with the help of a detailed 3D map;
> Great puzzles that give some challenge without being frustrating;
> Many well hidden and useful secrets;
> Entertaining, big and tough bosses, some are among the best ones ever;
> Overall it's a lengthy and challenging adventure;
> Great story if you read all the computer files and other things.

THE BAD:
> You have to read a great amount of text to fully understand the story, because it's not told through cut-scenes;
> Some secrets are too hard to find;
> Some sound effects are too simple, specially in the weapons;
> Most puzzles are fairly easy and simple;
> Should have been bigger, with at least one more big level, in order to have the perfect value;
> There's a bit of learning curve, but only because the controls are so different;
> The backtracking, can make those, who usually like to replay games, not wanting to replay this game.

FINAL WORDS:
Probably the best FPAA (first-person-action-adventure) game ever created, and probably the most atmospheric one too. It's not a shooter with lots of action where you have kill everything moving, it's an action-adventure game where one of your abilities is shooting and where you have to explore and use other abilities to clear paths and solve puzzles. So if you're looking for a pure FPS (first-person-shooter), you won't find it here, because this is a FPAA game. But if that's not your case, even if you're not a fan of first-person games, expect a very fun and immersive game to play from the beginning to the end, that leaves you wanting more.
