Metroid Prime is often regarded as the best gaming trilogy of all time. Is it worth re-buying with motion controls?

User Rating: 9 | Metroid Prime Trilogy WII
Ahhh, Metroid Prime. As soon as you landed on Tallon IV's over-grown overworld teeming with vibrant plants and rainy atmosphere(and the music...god the music) you know you were in for something special. And special it was. Most likely the greatest game of last generation, it immersed you like no game before it. Everything was brought together so perfectly, you would never have thought it possible that this was a rookie studio making Metroid in a first-person light for the first time. Truly incredible. Metroid Prime 2 brought more of the same, albeit with a better narrative, more exploration and significantly harder difficulty. Metroid Prime 3...eh. It was great, but it falls short of the excellence the two previous games brought us gamers. Much more linear gameplay, extremely easy-to-find items, a anti-climatic ending scene and overall more "hey, go shoot this or solve this easy puzzle". Regardless, this has been one amazing trip for gamers.

Fast forward 2 years after Prime 3. Nintendo graces us with all 3 games with new additions at a meager 50$. The biggest addition is the motion controls for the first two. They work great, but we saw this in Prime 3. It's not nearly as big as they were in Prime 3's debut. If you only liked the Prime Trilogy, this does NOT warrant a re-purchase. The other additions don't add much. You got widescreen support, a medal system for the first two(it's very un-inspired and tacked on...Prime 3 actually had some neat ones to get) You can unlock music from all 3 games, but you can only listen to them in the music menu. No bringing over to SD card or even listening while viewing unlocked concept art. You can also get the screenshot tool for the first two, which is neat...but again, need to exchange stupid friend vouchers. Honestly, this is for people who have not played the series yet or loved the originals.

So why score it so high? The first two games hold up just as well. The art direction can make current games look like garbage, the pacing is fantastic, the controls do add to it which does indeed make it better and more user friendly. They missed a lot of easy opportunities though. Despite what they said, loading times in Corruption are not better, they made the first two waaaaaaaaaay to easy on normal setting, and they failed with un-inspired medals on the first two. I love the first two and enjoyed the third, I love the series and Prime might be my favorite game of all time. So my fellow gamers, if you have not delved into this fantastic space odyssey yet, do so now. It would actually be cheaper finding all 3 separate...but the controls warrant the extra 10 or so dollars. Long time Prime vets will want to return has there are a few slight changes(new music in some places) and new speed runs...they took out some of the glitches. Those who have experienced the long immersive journey before and put the hours into it...think twice. There is a severe shortage of good Wii games, and this is better then good. But if you went down this breathtaking road before...think twice. The minimal new content isn't worth a re-purchase.
