Challenging room puzzles and engaging boss battles makes Metroid Fusion stand out among the rest!

User Rating: 9.5 | Metroid Fusion GBA
Metroid Fusion is a beautiful addition to all gameboy games, and any Metroid fan or handheld game fan should look into this game. Why? That's what I'm here to explain my friend...

The plot opens with Samus Aran recieving an order to lead a research team through a planet she throught she would never return to, Planet SR388. While there she is infected with an unknown bioform, but has little effect. It isn't until later however the parasite, now known as parasite x, starts to infect her. Samus, passed out, steers the ship into an astroid belt, but is saved by an emergency escape pod.

She is taken to Galactic Federation Headquarters where the Parasite has deeply infected her body. Thankfully, using a vaccine made by a metroid cell, the x parasite inside dies out, saving Samus, but it's not over.

Samus weakened but alive, is ordered right after she leaves the hospital to attend the situation at the BSL Station. It is overrun with X parasites, and learns the X mimic there host, then kill it. Samus's mission is to stop the spread of the X, and somewhere lies an X parasite, mimicking Samus as a powerful new form.

The game is very engaging, you will find at the station there are various different research enviornments crawling with enemies. Most of the challenge in the game will be the room puzzles, and how to use your weaponry to pass through them.

You also recieve many upgrades via, the "Data Rooms", which are scattered quite frequently among the station.

The main problem with the game is the short gamplay, one could beat this game in just and hour and a half. Another problem is the short range aim, not to mention many gamers will die many times the first time playing, and ushually takes 5 or 6 game overs until you get the hang of it.

However these problems should be ignored, there are many great things about the game.

One would be the new, "Difussion Missle" upgrades, and the sweet boss battles, as the Metroid series has always done right.

Ridley also once again appears, this time as Ridley X. A sweet new form that has been infected with an X Parasite.

The short length also gives a great advantage also, because the quicker you defeat it, the better the bonus ending you get.

Here we are with the scoring portion:

Graphics: 8/10: The weakest point of the game is the graphics, something gameboy games never do completely well. But however they should still be satisfying for the average fan.

Plot: 10/10: Many fun and suspensful twists in the plot make it interesting from start to finish!

Characters: 10/10: Be on the lookout for SA-X. He is a perfect video game villian. I always give this part a 10 for Metroid games anyway because of Samus being the perfect main character!

Gamplay: 9/10: Short, like I said, but fun none the less.

Difficulty: 10/10: Frequent room puzzles make this game challenging, which is nice. I bet you can't finish the game without online help. Really :)

Final Score: 47/50= 9.5/10

A great addition to a Metroid, or gameboy collection!
