Immersive. Great weapons & characters. Unusual depth. Morbid yet strangely beautiful. Great level & art design.

User Rating: 9.5 | Metro 2033 PC
I have played around 5 hours so far. Started playing and found it earily addictive. Just closed the application then feeling so satisfied that I had better give a review.

Beautiful game with incredible depth and atmosphere.

The atmosphere of Metro 2033 is not far from amazing. The combination of consistent art design, great graphics engine, immersive first person character animation and a poetic prose to tell the story really really drew me in. The feel of the game is so solid and all its elements conjure a new universe and post appocalyptic community that I feel driven to save.

Not only that the diversity of the landscape in the gaming world (desite being the "monotonous everything blown to smitherines post apocalytic" setting) is consctructed very well and certainly piqued my interest in exploring just because of the intelligent and very artistic level design. Not only that the Metro levels have a great degree of claustrophobia which work so well with the brooding atmosphere and sense of bereft in the post apocalyptic setting.

The games setting feels depressive yet an odd beauty within the game world is shown through the struggle of the NPC community the musical score and the banter of the characters.

Solid weapon mechanics are satisfying however close quarter combat can sometimes feel a little clumsy (holding an auto shotgun helps). One flaw in combat would be the death animations of the enemies can make them look like they are still alive. The flow of combat makes for a nice progressive well paced game.

I've read in reviews that this game has many bugs. Thus far I have experienced none (that said dont forget to update).

I highly recommend this game.
