gamespot has bad taste in games... this is a true classic that doesn't come often but once you play, you will understand

that graphics arn't everything... as a hard core metal slug fan i love the series, and i must say, i thought 3 was great but this just blew me away. especially metal slug 4! it's good ol metal slug action with new weapons, items, and characters! The music is great too... some of the songs will be stuck in your head for at least a week:P but trust me that isn't a bad thing, the music is catchy... it really is great most of the time! but the biggest part is the game play, and as you may or may not know, for fans of contra or other old school games, this will be a hit to you! although it may not make huge technological advances, WHO CARES! it's plain fun... the basic game play is like any other side scrolling shooter... and yet it's so different! with it's wacky and comedic style you'll instantly fall in love with this game, although without the continues on it would be tough... but for the inexperience gamer the continues would make the game too hard. but seriously, what casual plays metal slug? there isn't much to say in the review... it has the same basic scheme as the others, but something seems to make 4 & 5 really stand out... i give the game a 9.5 for its superb game play, great art style, awesome music, and my overall experience with it:)
