great old school rpg! Games like this deserve better ratings, niche game it may be, but a good one!
I consider myself a rpg fanatic, playing many of the rpg's being released. And recently i do have qualms about all the hyped titles, where no review ever seems to do the game any justice, in being to fanboyish and in general only offering the good while downplaying the bad.
Due to this many of the new games, while the reviews stated them being terrific, usually were disappointing t say the very least.
This is why i really love this game. all the reviews i saw were real bash reviews, the reviewers usually not happy with the "crap" they had to play.
A real rpg fan however will see the hidden qualities of this game, the setting the overworld to explore and lots of secrets and in general just pure fun playing it.
There are lots of tough enemies to beat, outlaws, i found them to be quite fun to best, reminding me somewhat of the challenge of the weapons in ff7.
Still, the gameplay is where this game excels, any lackluster storyline many of the contemporary rpgs sport was omitted, so you can get at the real fun:
exploring a vast world, without any artificial delays built in.
you can play this game, have fun with it and feel a sense of accomplishment, simply because the gameplay itself is fun.
It is not about raising your levels, it is about exploring a world, many dungeons and meeting lots of fun characters, enemies and enjoying gameplay without the usual forced fixed storyline of other games.
If you dread the new final fantasy 12, be happy, here is one of those games you grew to like.
To all true rpg fans, at least give this game a rental to decide for yourself if you want to believe the bias of those commercial reviewers out there!
