Obviously! Who could beat Solid Snake? Greatest Game Hero ever! He's special forces, stealthy, tough, life-saving, and downright COOL! What is about him cannot be described as 'Greatest Game Hero'? Nothing.
I have been playing through Uncharted 2, and there are some sequences that reminded me of this. Albeit, they are both great.
I actually find Sam Fisher to be a better character (prior Splinter cell conviction that is), but he ll, Solid Snake is a kick ass dude as well. (not comparing the games, just the personality of the characters)

Snake is BAMF! even though yes, that technicalities snake eater was Big Boss but its all good he was a BA too.
MGS3 and MGS4 Snakes are different... Old Snake is Solid. MGS3 has Naked snake AKA Big Boss. Big Boss is the real badass.
MGS is the best game ever made and Snake is the Greatest game hero ever happened in the history of mankind :) Though I am a ps3 and PC gamer, I am glad now XboX players will also be able to enjoy MGS as next title is coming to all platforms. Snake Rocks my world big time. Long Live Snake.
@developer12 I definitely give Sons Of Liberty 10/10. I still haven't got to play MGS4 though, but I'm sure I'm going to give it 10/10 (at least).
I´ve enjoyed all the games in this series. MGS my all time favorite and Snake is the greatest hero ever :D
@joelwyncott You cant give mgs2 10/10, atleast not unless you wanna break the scale and go 11/10 for mgs4

Metal Gear Solid is an amazing series! I still haven't played Guns Of The Patriots yet, but I'm really looking forward to it. After beating the first three games, I'd say the best is Sons Of Liberty. Snake Eater has better gameplay and graphics, and is a great survival game, but Sons Of Liberty has a better, more dramatic story, which ties in with the overall Metal Gear Solid story more than Snake Eater does. I give Snake Eater 9.7 out of 10, and I give Sons Of Liberty 10 out of 10.

Snake is by far the greatest hero ever! Naked snake is the hero of the 1960s and Solid snake is the hero of modern times. Plus liquid and solidus are great villians! so pretty much all snakes are Great!!!
this was definitely the best of all the hero montages. Gordons and Marios were both really weak.
