With a little more effort The Twin Snakes could have been a truly masterful remake of true classic!

For those of you who are unaware, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes is a remake of the original 1998 Metal Gear Solid game, and in the six years from the time the original came to the time of this remake, not much has changed in the way of gameplay. It is still an amazing game and if you missed it the first time around, now is the perfect time to see what you missed. The game has been tweaked a bit to feel a little more modern. Basically they added some of the features from MGS 2. Including a few of Son's of Liberty's weapons, the improved alert mode, and the improved artificial intelligence. It would have been nice if they had tweaked the levels a bit more to accommodate for the changes in the way the game plays but for the most part it works out just fine. But the true appeal of The Twin Snakes is not in the new weapons or up graded AI; but rather the new MGS2 style graphics and cut-scenes. They are just as beautifully intense, and masterfully executed as Son's of Liberty and Snake Eater are, and a true treat to behold.

For those of you who never got to experience the original MGS and have become fans of the series this game is a must play; and for those of you who did it's probably still worth pick up, or at least renting, to re-experience this amazing games new graphics and cut-scenes. It's just a shame that the same level of shine, polish, and hidden gimmicks that the series has become known for didn't find its way into this other-wise solid remake of a true classic!
