To fans new and old, this is a great game that should not be missed.

User Rating: 9 | Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes GC
The Good: Superb story, tons of new gameplay mechanics to make a good game even better, redone cutscenes...it’s MGS!!

The Bad: Hmm...not a whole lot ;)

This is a totally revamped version of the original Metal Gear Solid, released on Playstation. New gameplay mechanics, updated graphics and cutscenes, and the classic MGS feel everyone (or at least it should be everyone) has come to know and love.

Gameplay is some good stuff. I don’t know where to start. You’ll be doing sneaking, peeking, choking, shooting, rolling, rappelling, rescuing, and talking (lots of talking)...

You get many guns as you go through the game, as well as tons of other items, which are organized in your L and R menus. A is to use your armed weapon or item if selected in the window. B is punch or choke/ snap neck if behind someone, as well as a few other things like zooming in or out with the binoculars, along with X. X makes you roll if moving or crouch if you’re not, and once crouched, you crawl when you move. Y is the assorted action button, and Z is first person view for aiming your gun.

The story is twisty, elaborate, compelling, and ultimately satisfying. You are Solid Snake, a secret spy type soldier who is sent in to rescue two people that were kidnapped for unknown reasons (or, maybe you did know...I forget, you find out later if you don’t know from the start). However, upon coming into contact with both people, they promptly die of what appears to be a heart attack. The story unfolds from there, you meet new characters, each with a back story all their own, and many plot twists follow.

Graphics are pretty decent, but there is something off looking about them that looks like the colors slightly left the outlines, but the environments look nice and there’s some eye candy here and there as well.

Sound is classic MGS stuff, along with an array of gunshots, explosions, the humming of rotating surveillance cameras, and, yes, rings. And, of course, great voice acting.

Value can’t really be determined by me, but you. The single player will take you anywhere from 6 to 12 hours to complete the first time, but every time I’ve played it since it gets shorter, down to two and a half hours. Also, you get special items the second time around when you play on the same file. To me, the story is classic and I play through it again and again, and most people agree with me.

Tilt can only be described by saying...its MGS. You either love it or hate it.

Bottom line, this is a timeless classic and one of the best stories in a game to date. With fun and intriguing gameplay, this game never ceases to amaze and satisfy. Buy this game.
