Perhaps the greatest game in history. Incomparable to anything ever created before. Must buy for any gamer. EPIC.
I bought this game around 4 years ago, on the first day it was released due to the astounding hype surrounding it. I played the game and was dazzled by the sheer scope of it. The game has everything a game can possibly offer and will definitely not disappoint any fans, but yet surpass their expectations.
The single player is a beauty on its own. Following the story of prior installments of the series, it expands on the story line, with the protagonist facing a new crises from his nemeses Liquid. The gameplay follows the stealth type introduced in prior versions and expands on it. You can play the game in an ultra stealthy mode, without making a single kill or play by opening fire on any enemies you see threatening you. The choice is utterly yours. The new weapon system is a great step forward with the game and adds so much more to the way you deal with enemies; making it so much more interesting.
To all of you familiar with the plot, metal gear solid 4 puts an end to the series. It is the farewell to Snake and what a way do the producers do it. The cinematic scale of the game is something you'll watch with awe. I have played many games and nothing has left me with the sense of fulfillment after completing a game as MGS4 has. Kojima productions have done an excellent job making a fantastic single player, and have gone to the extra step of making a multiplayer to an already brilliant game. The Multiplayer is great and adds a fun way to experience the single player spectacle with others online - although it is a hassle to set up an account, it is definitely worth it for the end result.
Everything from the way the storyline is told - the brilliant cut scenes (with smooth transitions into gameplay), the gameplay mechanisms to even the extra multiplayer (which the game would still be amazing without) make playing this game a perfect experience.
However, the story might seem complicated to those of you unfamiliar with the franchise but nonetheless the experience the game has to offer to those new to the franchise is excellent despite the fact that newcomers might find the story confusing at first to follow.
It has been nearly 4 years since I bought the game and my passion for the game has never declined, it stands above as the best game of this generation and my only regret of this game is that I can not relive the single player experience as I did when I first played the game - since I already know the whole plot. (Nevertheless, there are many different modes to replay the game which is something worth doing after you complete the game the first time). The fact that a game bought quite a while ago still leaves its marks on me, after playing many games during the time II bought mgs4 until today, symbolizes the successful nature of the game.
A game such as MGS4 deserves a place in the record books, an accomplishment by Hideo Kokima that possibly shall never be replicated in the years to come. For anyone who hasn't played this, go out there and buy this game, (The fact that it now has platinum status - over a million copies sold worldwide - means that the price is much cheaper). I'm an avid fan of games and very rarely does a game stand out to the extent MGS4.
One shall never be disappointed, only be blown away by the magnificent marvel Metal Gear Solid 4 has to offer. A must buy for any person who enjoys their video games.
