Snake Eater 3d is a remake of the playstation 2 game. It's incredible that you can play such a game on a handheld system. it has the same high production value, like you're starring in a movie. You play as a guy named Snake and you're on a mission in Soviet territory during the cold war. You need to sneak past enemy guards using camouflage. a cool new gimmick in this version is that you can use patterns from pictures you have taken with the 3DS camera. This is a lot of fun and provided me with the best camouflage. Another new thing in this version is the ability to walk while crouching, which is very helpful.
The 3DS has only one analog stick, so unless you have the extension with the extra stick you have to use the ABXY-buttons to position the camera. This took some getting used to, but after a while it worked fine. There was this one particular bossfight though, where you had to manoeuvre behind this guy to grab him. This was very hard with you, him and the camera going all over the place.
Also new in this version are the 3D graphics. Now the 3D graphics look great, but they're a lot harder on the eyes then Resident Evil Revelations. I played the game without the 3D effect, and turned it on as soon as there was one of the many extenbsive cutscenes. These cutscenes looked phenomenal in 3D. If you are a big Metal Gear fan this would be a good reason to revisit Snake Eater. For me, it was my second Metal Gear game after "The Twin Snakes" on the gamecube, since i only play on Nintendo Systems. I had a wonderful time playing it. After some time the story starts picking up speed and i just wanted to keep on playing.
