This a Metal Gear Solid game that will definately will please fans of the series.

User Rating: 9.5 | Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater PS2
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is much different than the 2 previous games. It is in the past instead in the future! People will be surprised to this sudden change in the game's story. It looked like that Hideo Kojima wanted change the story a bit and explaining more about Big Boss aka in the game ''Naked Snake.''

This is shown because the environments have changed. Before in the previous games, it was usually inside a very advanced facility. But now it's been set in the jungles of southern Russia where the objective of the game is now survival. The way it works is that you might get shot by enemy soldiers and you might have a restriction of having full health due to the bullet still being there in your body. They also added stamina to the mix that decreases when you run, or do various actions like climbing or punching. Losing stamina might result of Snake not recovering fast enough, having your vision impaired etc. To heal any kind of wound, you press start and go to some kind of screen where you use the knife to pull out the wound, use bandages and other medical equipment. This might become a bit annoying because you are pretty much repeatedly press start and stop being in the action.

The whole point in the Metal Gear series was to get past enemy lines without being seen. Well now they added a nice feature of able to change your clothes so you can literally ''camouflage'' with in the environment which gives you a higher chance of not being seen! The way how the camouflage thing works is that depending on the type of color pattern on your camouflage blends in with the surrounding, you will get a little box that has a percentage of how you blend in. So if you wear a dark green camouflage and put pretty much dark green paint on your face ( you paint your face too!) you will get a high percentage on your box which gives you a better chance of not being seen! This is a slick way of going through enemy lines and also fun to do! One thing that bothers when you try to get past enemies is the camera which is very annoying and gets in the way a bit because it just stays at one point.

The story goes way before the original Metal Gear. It's set in 1964 where a secret operative that works for an organization called ''FOX'' that is part of the CIA. This secret operative is called to rescue a rocket scientist called '' Sokolov.'' He is asked to rescue him in the deep jungles in Southern Russia. He is given the code name ''Naked Snake'' I don't really go on with the story because I want you to see it for your self. The cut scenes are- as always- amazing and beautiful to look at as they tell the story in such a dramatic and entertaining way. Every character in the game always has a way to express the way they feel like in some way possible.

The controls are different in this game. There is this new combat system called ''CQC'' (Close-Quarters Combat) that works perfectly when you are close to soldiers and you can instantly grab them from behind, interrogate them, throw them on the floor, or even slit their throat! The weapons are varied such as AK-47's, SAA'S, Knifes and other weapons that are really important. The items are varied from mine detectors and binoculars.

The music really goes with the 60's feel that where the story is set in. Also, the graphics look really good for the PS2 where everything looks so clear and shadowed which makes it look like you are in the jungle.
In conclusion, this is a great game where I recommend for Metal Gear Solid fans where they will get a better understanding of the games constantly twisting story.
